It is week three of the One Room Challenge put on by Calling it Home. If you have been following along I am going strong on redecorating my Mother In Laws’ playroom she has for her grandchildren. The theme I went with is Nautical. I have already picked up most of the decor and other necessities needed for the room at this point. This week I am currently trying to find a banner/pendant for above the window. Which one do you like?

I also made some DIY framed art to go on a few of the shelves. I was perusing the aisles of my Joann’s when I spotted some super cute nautical stencils. I immediately thought I could somehow make some art for the room with them. I then thought about using some gold leaf paint and voila! There grew my idea for the DIY art. Super simple and super cute. Here is what you will need:
Frame
Cardstock
Super cute nautical stencils 6″(unfortunately not available online) They were only 3.49 for 25! Plus you could use a coupon to get even cheaper!
Paint Brush-small
This is truly a beginner level project. You simply cut your card stock to size of frame, either trace your stencil or start painting it onto the card stock. The liquid gold leaf is very thin so I would start in the middle and work your way out. I love the real gold sheen of the liquid gold leaf, but you could also use acrylic paint or whatever you have on hand. Now I am trying to see what else could use these adorable stencils!

I like the burlap banner! But the pom pom one goes with your color scheme! 🙂
I just had an idea….lol. I think I am going to DIY the burlap banner with my cute new stencils and then also layer the felt pom-poms over it. Stay tuned….
You can’t go wrong with any of them really.
The stencil art is so perfect for the playroom. Sounds like you’ve got a good plan for the banner (based on your comment above).
